Let me just start right off the bat by saving you some time here. If you take anything away from this article, let it be this: DO NOT SLEEP ON OLD NAVY ACTIVEWEAR, Y’ALL.
I’ve always been a huge fan of Old Navy. Their outerwear has been an easy go-to for me for years, but after seeing plenty of Reddit threads hyping up their activewear, I figured it was finally time to put it to the test.
Athleta, Old Navy’s sister brand, is probably better known in the performance apparel space, and I’ve already reviewed several of their pieces, including the Interval Bra and Elation Legging. Old Navy, however, comes in at a much more budget-friendly price point, so I was curious to see how much of a difference I’d actually notice in quality and performance.
The Light Support Fluid Seamless Ribbed Sports Bra was one of the first pieces I picked up, and I’ve now owned it for over a year. In that time, I’ve worn it through a full HYROX mixed doubles race, F45 classes, hot yoga, Solidcore, and plenty of my regular strength and conditioning sessions with Jake.
Considering this bra typically retails for around $20-$25 (and is regularly marked down even further), I’ve been incredibly impressed with how versatile it has been. There are a couple of areas where I think its lower price point shows, but overall, this bra has seriously exceeded my expectations.

Who Should Buy the Old Navy Light Support Sports Bra?
- Budget Shoppers: Anyone shopping on a budget or who loves finding a good deal.
- Light to Medium Support Lovers: Those looking for light to medium support with adjustable straps. The CRZ Yoga Sports Bra also delivers here.
- A-C Cup Coverage: A-C cups looking for solid coverage without excessive compression, this is a great option to explore.
Who Shouldn’t Buy the Old Navy Light Support Sports Bra?
- You Need A Lot of Support: This should go without saying, but anyone looking for true high support should pass on this bra. If you’re doing a lot of running or high-impact activities, grab something like the Lululemon Energy Bra or the Athleta Elation for more support.
- Those Prone to Chafing: Anyone particularly prone to underarm chafing, this may be a miss. I have yet to have any issues in this category from the Born Primitive Sports Bra.
Sizing & Fit
For reference, I’m 5’3”, 122 lbs, and typically wear a 32/34B. I purchased this bra in a size small and find it to fit true to size. Old Navy currently offers it in sizes XS through 4X and categorizes it as a fitted, light-support bra designed for A-C cups.
Coverage is one of the stronger points for me. The scoop neckline isn’t overly low, and the slightly thicker straight straps give me a secure fit without digging into my shoulders. The straps are also adjustable, which is a big plus since you can fine-tune the fit instead of relying entirely on your standard size.

The padding is removable, and after owning this bra for over a year, I eventually took mine out completely. I always wash my activewear on cold and hang it to dry, but after enough wash cycles, the pads started to warp. They also have a tendency to fall out in the wash. I still find the bra supportive without them, but if I want additional coverage, I’ll swap in pads from another bra or wear my Cakes.
I also really like the straight-strap construction for versatility. It sits nicely underneath tank tops and fitted shirts, so this is one of those sports bras that can transition into casual outfits more easily than a bulky racerback or highly technical training bra.
Performance
Lifting and HIIT: 9/10
As I mentioned earlier, I wore this sports bra for HYROX Phoenix mixed doubles, and for a $20 bra, I was more than impressed. Between sled pushes, burpees, lunges, rowing, SkiErg work, and everything else HYROX throws at you, I felt supported and covered throughout the event. I never found myself adjusting the straps or neckline, and it handled sweat surprisingly well.
I’ve also worn it through F45 classes and plenty of my regular training sessions with Jake, which usually include some combination of strength work, conditioning, and cardio. After more than a year, it has become one of those easy sports bras I can grab without having to think too much about what my workout looks like that day.

My biggest complaint is that the material can start to feel slightly rough against my skin during extended high-impact sessions. Toward the end of HYROX, I noticed some friction around my armpit where my arms were repeatedly rubbing against the fabric. During my normal 40-60 minute workouts, though, this hasn’t really been an issue. The adjustable straps are another win here because I can get them secure without creating unnecessary pressure on my shoulders.
Running and Jumping: 8.3/10
Running is where I start to notice the limitations of the “light support” design. There’s plenty of coverage, but it doesn’t lock me down as much as I typically want from a dedicated running sports bra. For shorter runs, intervals, plyometrics, or conditioning work, I’m comfortable wearing it. For longer runs, I’d personally reach for something with more support.

I also think the running portions of HYROX were largely responsible for the friction I experienced near my underarms. With that repetitive arm movement over a longer period of time, the ribbed material started to rub more than I would have liked.
On the plus side, it handles sweat well, and I never feel overly weighed down when it gets wet. If your workouts involve shorter bursts of running and jumping mixed with strength work, I think it performs significantly better than its light-support label might suggest.
Yoga and Pilates & Low Impact: 9.5/10
I’ve worn this bra plenty of times for hot yoga and Solidcore, and this is probably where it shines the most. The combination of coverage, stretch, and lighter support makes it easy to move through core work, stretching, folding, and overhead/horizontal movements without feeling like I need to adjust anything.

Even during hot yoga, I feel secure without feeling overly compressed. There’s enough coverage through the chest that I’m comfortable moving into different positions, and the adjustable straps help keep everything where I want it.
Aesthetically, it’s slightly less minimal than what I typically gravitate toward for Pilates and yoga, but this bra has been an exception because the actual performance is so good.
Daily Wear and Comfort: 8.7/10
The scoop neck and straight straps make this sports bra really easy to wear underneath everyday clothes. I’ve worn it under tank tops and more fitted shirts plenty of times, and I like that it gives me support without feeling overly restrictive. I also find the overall fit to be flattering and fairly seamless.

That said, when comfort is my number-one priority, I tend to gravitate toward softer, more minimal bras with more of a true second-skin feel. The ribbed material on this one feels slightly more structured, which is great for training but not necessarily what I want when I’m sitting in the car for hours or lounging around.
For transitioning from the gym to coffee, running errands, or putting together a casual athleisure outfit, though, it works really well. I just wouldn’t call it my first choice for a long travel day or a day spent lounging.

Old Navy Light Support Sports Bra

CRZ Yoga Spots Bra
Construction & Details
The Fluid Seamless Ribbed Sports Bra is made with an 80% nylon and 20% spandex blend. Old Navy describes its Fluid Seamless construction as creating a breathable, barely-there feel, and the bra features a scoop neckline, adjustable straight straps, a fitted silhouette, and light support intended for A-C cups. Old Navy specifically positions it for lower-impact activities like yoga and stretching, although I’ve obviously pushed mine quite a bit further than that.

The ribbed construction gives the bra a little more texture and structure than some of the ultra-smooth sports bras I own. Despite how much I’ve worn mine, the actual body of the bra has held up exceptionally well. After more than a year of workouts and wash cycles, I haven’t noticed any meaningful fraying or pilling, which is especially impressive given the price.
The one area that hasn’t aged quite as gracefully is the removable padding. Mine eventually warped, and the pads have a tendency to work their way out during washing. I ultimately removed them altogether and thankfully haven’t felt like doing so significantly impacted the support of the bra.
Color availability appears to rotate fairly regularly, which is another fun element if you end up liking the fit.
Final Thoughts
Overall, for the price, I cannot recommend the Old Navy Light Support Fluid Seamless Ribbed Sports Bra enough. It’s flattering, versatile, adjustable, and has held up shockingly well considering how much I’ve put it through. The fact that I wore a roughly $20 sports bra through an entire HYROX and walked away impressed with it says a lot, IMO.
It’s also worth keeping an eye on Old Navy’s sales because this bra is frequently discounted below its already affordable retail price. At the time of writing, Old Navy has offered versions of it well below the $19.99-$24.99 regular price range, making the value proposition even stronger.
Is this going to replace a dedicated high-support running bra for me? No. But for lifting, HIIT, yoga, Pilates, everyday workouts, and casual wear, I think it punches way above its price point. After how well this one has performed, I’m definitely excited to continue putting more Old Navy activewear to the test.
