Let’s be real, dropping $100 on a pair of leggings can be hard to justify at times. Especially for something that you’re going to work out in, get covered in dog hair, and generally get beaten up.
Setting aside the “Are Lulu’s really worth it?” argument for now, there must be some budget-friendly options that are just as good, or at least close enough. Right?!
So, when I spotted Colorfulkoala’s $25 leggings on Amazon, I had to know, was were they too good to be true? There’s no way they could feel as good as Lulu’s Align leggings or perform as well through the rigors of daily exercise and life.
To answer my question, I did the leg work for you, pun intended. I ordered a pair and ran them through all the same tests as my Lulu’s. I lifted, did HIIT circuits and took classes, ran in them, and wore them as my daily pair of leggings for weeks.
At the end of the day, I’m impressed. These are soft, secure, and have that buttery-flowy feel that is perfect for yoga and Pilates. If you’ve been hunting for a pair of leggings that don’t wreck your wallet, the Dreamlux leggings perform well above their price tag, but you can still tell they’re a budget pair at times. Let’s take a closer look.

Who Should Buy the Colorfulkoala Dreamlux Leggings?
- If you’re a price-conscious buyer who is looking for a replacement for Lululemon, these are a great place to start.
- If your training is mostly low-impact or mat-based (think yoga or Pilates), these are perfect.
- If you’re looking for a pair of leggings that are soft and comfortable enough for lounging, errands, or travel, these are the leggings for you.

Who Shouldn’t Buy These Leggings?
- If your training leans HIIT or running, these don’t wick sweat as well as Lulus and can feel sticky once you heat up.
- If you’re looking for something with more structure or compression to for shaping or heavy strength work, look elsewhere or save up for a pair of Lulus.
- If you don’t like high-waisted leggings, these won’t change your mind. The waistband sits sky-high and can roll a bit during hinge movements.
Fit and Sizing Suggestions
About me: I’m 5’3” and about 122 lbs. I usually wear a size small across the board in activewear. Depending on style, I typically wear a 24/26 in Abercrombie and Levis jeans, and a 2/4 in Hollister.

I ordered a size small, my go-to in most athletic wear. They fit perfectly through the legs and hips and had just enough compression that they stayed put during strength movements and some high-intensity F45 classes.
The 28” inseam is a great length for me, but it does leave a little extra fabric at the ankle. Not sloppy, but it is noticeable.
The waistband is where things get a bit different. It’s meant to be high-waisted, but it feels extra high on me, sitting well above my natural waistline. If you have a shorter torso, it might feel uncomfortable.

Compression minimal, which makes them perfect for yoga, Pilates, or daily wear. But for running or higher-intensity training, I prefer more support, especially through the waist.
How I Style These

Performance
Lifting & HIIT, 7/10
I really wanted to put these through the wringer with lifting. If I’m going to call them a true Lulu replacement, I had to know for sure. I took them through some heavier leg days at the gym and I was pleasantly surprised. They held up so much better than expected.
They didn’t slide down. They’re fully squatproof. And the fabric was soft and forgiving enough to not feel restrictive through any of the movements. The waistband sits higher than I typically like, and it rolled slightly at the very top during deep hinge movements. Noticeable, but not distracting.

The main drawback of these, and it’s likely due to the budget-friendly construction and material, is the lighter compression. They just don’t offer that “locked-in” feeling I like for high-intensity or strength work. Still, for casual lifting or circuit classes, they perform well.
Running, 6.5/10
The only redeeming quality of these for running is that, thanks to the high waist, they stay in place. Beyond that, these are not going to be my pick for running. They’ll be fine for a short warm-up or cool-down walk or jog. Anything longer than that and it’s a pass for me.
At least the black colorway hides sweat well. Unfortunately, the softer fabric starts to feel sticky and suffocating once you warm up and start to sweat a bit. I mentioned the lighter compression above, and it’s a knock against them here too. Sure, they stay in place, but they don’t give you the security you want during longer runs.
I see these being a better grab if you’re headed out for a walk or going for a hike, especially in cooler weather. If it’s hot and you know you’re going to sweat, grab something else.

Yoga, Pilates & Low-Impact Workouts, 9/10
This is where the Dreamlux leggings shine. They’re soft, stretchy, and move with you effortlessly. They’re very reminiscent of Lululemon Aligns and could truly be a replacement for lighter sessions like this. The light compression is a benefit here. They give you just enough support without limiting range of motion, perfect for mat-based workouts.
The only nitpick, and the reason I didn’t rate them a 10/10, is the higher waistband. Just like the F45 classes, the waistband tends to roll at the top during deep folds or hinging movements. Still, they outperform most leggings in this price range, and most leggings in the Lulu price range, for yoga and Pilates.
Daily Wear & Comfort, 9.5/10
Hands down, these are a win for all-day comfort, especially for the price. The fabric is soft and stretchy, and the lighter compression means you never feel uncomfortably squeezed or restricted. The hidden waistband pocket is a thoughtful touch. Just big enough for a card, key, or chapstick without adding bulk.

I did notice a couple of stitching quirks, but at this price point, it’s an easy trade-off. And they have that irksome front seam. I still don’t understand why designers still think that us ladies like that. Whether you’re traveling, running errands, lounging at home, or grabbing coffee with a friend, these are the kind of leggings you’ll want to live in.
Construction & Materials
The Colorfulkoala Dreamlux leggings are made from a nylon/Lycra blend that gives them a soft, lightweight feel, reminiscent of Lulu’s Nulu material. They also boast a four-way stretch that’s almost identical in feel and movement to Lulu’s Align leggings.

The high-rise waistband sits higher than I like. It does a great job of staying in place, providing just enough security without being uncomfortable. It also features a hidden pocket that’s genuinely functional, something often overlooked or added in as an afterthought.
The minimal-seam design gives them a sleek, streamlined look, though they still have a front seam. Thankfully, the stitching is flat and smooth, so it’s more of an aesthetic gripe than a comfort issue. It’s worth mentioning they do offer a no-front-seam version as well.

Durability is decent for the price, though the fabric isn’t as resilient as premium models. Over time, you may see light pilling if you wear them for high-friction activities. I’m also being careful with how often and how vigorously I wash them so they last longer.
Final Thoughts: Would I Buy Again?
I can’t say it enough; I am impressed with the Colorfulkoala Dreamlux High Waisted Workout Leggings. They deliver impressive comfort and performance for a fraction of the price of premium brands.
They’re squatproof. They stay in place. And they feel buttery soft.
They’re not perfect. The waistband runs extra high, compression is light, and the fabric isn’t as breathable or durable as more expensive options. For high-impact workouts or those who want a shaping effect, you may want to look elsewhere.
If your priority is comfort, versatility, and saving money, these are an easy win. They’re proof that you don’t have to drop $100+ to get leggings you’ll want to live in. And if they do wear out fast, the price makes replacing them painless.
