Ten Thousand Midweight Tech Hoodie Review | Great for Warm-Ups

Jake Bolyby Jake Boly Updated Nov 25, 2024 5 Comments

Ten Thousand Midweight Tech Hoodie Review

The Ten Thousand Midweight Tech Hoodie has become a staple in my weekly wardrobe. I was never really a fan of wearing hoodies when training, but that changed when I moved to Denver — AKA a much colder climate — so I was somewhat forced to explore wearing more workout-specific hoodies.

The Ten Thousand Midweight Tech Hoodie offers a lot of construction details that I never knew I needed. For example, the 4-way stretch material is something that is seriously overlooked, especially when warming up before your training sessions.

In this Ten Thousand Midweight Tech Hoodie review, we’ll break down all the key details of this hoodie. Note that I’m only going to be referencing the pullover version in this review!

  • Is the Ten Thousand Midweight Tech Hoodie Worth Buying?
  • Ten Thousand Midweight Tech Hoodie Pros
  • Ten Thousand Midweight Tech Hoodie Cons

Is the Ten Thousand Midweight Tech Hoodie Worth Buying?

With a price point of $98, this hoodie is certainly not the most cost-efficient on the market. However, if you’re someone who wants a hoodie for working out and daily wear that you can wear often, then I think you’ll like this model. It does a good job of tackling both asks.

More specifically, I like the 4-way stretch of this hoodie’s build because it never feels limiting in a variety of exercises. Plus, the silver-ion anti-odor tech is a big perk, especially if you’re like me and wear hoodies for multiple wears, days, and training sessions before washing them.

Pros

  • This hoodie stretches and moves well for training and daily wear. I never feel limited when rocking this in the gym.
  • For spring and fall days where it's breezy and cooler this hoodie's weight is perfect for keeping you warm.
  • The bigger hood is great for guys like me who love pulling their hood over hats when hiking and being outdoors, for example.

Cons

  • The price point is high and if you don't care about the stretch and feel of your hoodie then you can find cheaper options.
  • This won't be the best hoodie for super frigid days. It's a midweight hoodie, as the name states, so keep that in mind.
  • While I like the bigger hood, for some, this may feel way too big and it's not really useful for things like running.

Best For

  • Versatile Training
  • Day-to-Day Casual Wear
  • Dynamic Warm-ups
  • General Strength Work

Ten Thousand Midweight Tech Hoodie Pros

There are three key details about the Ten Thousand Midweight Tech Hoodie that I like. These are pros that I didn’t know I needed in my life, to be honest.

  1. 4-Way Stretch Construction
  2. Silver-Ion Anti-Odor Tech
  3. Larger Hood

The first benefit that comes with this hoodie is the 4-way stretch construction. The material blend in this hoodie is composed of 68% polyester, 27% cotton, and 5% spandex. Plus, the GSM weight (fabric weight) of this hoodie sits around 310, which for context, makes this hoodie feel lighter in weight, mobile, and “cool” in some regards.

Whether you’re performing cardio for a warm-up or doing something dynamic, this hoodie will move well with you. Additionally, it will keep you warm enough to get your body temperature while also being somewhat lightweight to not overheat you. It’s an interesting balance in this Ten Thousand hoodie.

Ten Thousand Midweight Tech Hoodie Sizing and Fit

Another perk that comes with this Ten Thousand hoodie is the silver-ion anti-odor tech. I’m the type of guy who will wear hoodies for a week or two before I wash them. I never really find this smelling too bad, at least, no one around me says anything. It’s not like other full cotton hoodies that hold stink.

The last perk that I like that’s a non-negotiable in hoodies is the larger hood that comes with this model. Nothing is worse than pulling up your hood only to have it feel like it’s suffocating you. The hood in this hoodie is large and you can even wear it over a hat with ease.

Ten Thousand Midweight Tech Hoodie Cons

If you’re considering it, then I think two drawbacks might be worth considering. They’re not a huge deal, but recognizing them beforehand could help you make a more educated buying decision.

  1. Not the Warmest
  2. Higher Price Point

The first drawback is that this hoodie is not the warmest option on the market. For example, the material in this hoodie is designed to stretch and accommodate training sessions, so it’s not going to be the best winter hoodie.

If you’re looking for a really warm hoodie, then I’d say consider and look at the Ten Thousand Merino Tech Hoodie, as this model has wool in it and has a heavier weight.

Another drawback is the price. At a cost of $98 for the pullover option and $108 for the full-zip, this hoodie is not the most cost-efficient. That’s why I mentioned that I think this hoodie is best served for those who have specific questions about working out in their hoodie.

The durability in this model is pretty solid and it’s super comfortable, so the price could be worth it for those who want a model to train and relax in.

Ten Thousand Midweight Tech Hoodie Performance

Ten Thousand Midweight Tech Hoodie Pullover Performance

The first performance aspect of the Ten Thousand Midweight Tech Hoodie that I like, is once again, the 4-way stretch material. This aspect matters when doing overhead and rotational work because the sleeves and upper part of the hoodie move well with you. Plus, then the sleeves don’t end up getting caught and rolling up which is annoying in other non-stretch hoodies.

Another nice performance perk of this model is the drawstring and the hood construction. I’ve already mentioned that the hood is somewhat larger, but the drawstrings also have the capability of being put inside or outside of the hoodie. This is nice for anyone who wants to move the strings to the inside to avoid having them get in the way or caught on things.

The final two aspects of this hoodie that play well into its performance are the flat-lock seams and the Every Session Carry pocket system. The seams feel durable and I haven’t noticed any fraying yet, plus, there are two zip pockets within the larger front pouch pocket. This is nice for times when I want to throw my gym’s key fob into a secure pocket.

Ten Thousand Midweight Tech Hoodie Sizing (1)

Ten Thousand Midweight Tech Hoodie Sizing

For sizing reference, I’m going to share some of my metrics below so hopefully, they can assist you with what size you should go with. In the Ten Thousand Midweight Tech Hoodie (Pullover) I wear a large but do note, that I do like my hoodies to not feel suffocating in nature.

  • Shoulders (circumference): 46″
  • Chest: 41″
  • Sleeve: 33″
  • Torso (around the belly button): 32″
  • Torso Height (from hip bone to top of traps): 22″
  • Neck: 16″

Takeaway Thoughts

Overall, I have enjoyed training in and wearing my Ten Thousand Midweight Tech Hoodie. There are so many key construction details that help this hoodie excel in specific settings.

Hey Andrew — I actually haven’t gotten to try and test that hoodie thoroughly yet. I have a list of hoodies to work through and this model is one of them. I should have a full review built out for it in about a month or so. I’m sorry I’m not more help here!

Hey brother, solid review. From what I gather, it seems best to size down? Iv read/watched that if a medium shirt from ten thousand fits, then go with a small? Thoughts? Just throwing it out there I’m 5’7” 208lbs and wear a medium shirt from ten thousand. Do you think a small would work and make sense? I do like things a bit more “compressse”but not so much that it’s ridiculous looking. Any thoughts and would be appreciated! Your YouTube channel is also solid btw ????

Thank you! Eh, with hoodies, I usually air on the side of liking them a tiny bit larger. This way if they shrink it’s not a big deal and they never feel limited with their sleeves etc. I would say try a Med and keep it in good condition so you can return if you do want to size down! I think that would be a good call to start with.
